As the national symbol of pride, heritage, heraldry, and monarchy, the Royal arms of Britain is internationally recognized as an emblem of majesty and elegance. The Royal arms signify the unity of England, Scotland, and Wales, and Northern Ireland by incorporating all heraldic beasts into one unified emblem. In 1983 The Royal Mint entrusted famed engraver, Eric Sewell, to produce a coin that bore the Royal arms and was received with much critical acclaim. Nearly four decades later, it has been stunningly reimaged by The Royal Mint, on 1 oz of 999 pure silver.
The modernized rendition of The Royal Arms coin, designed by Timothy Noad, features the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland with a couchant attitude, a significant variation from the original. The Lion and Unicorn stand on either side, in support of the official Blazon, with quarterly’s one and four bearing lions in courant position. Quarterly two contains the red lion of Scotland, with three designated for the harp of Ireland. The official motto, “Dieu Et Mon Droit,” French for “God and my right” is seen on the scroll below. The image is enhanced with a light-refracting radial lined field.
Illustrated on the obverse is the contemporary effigy of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clarke over a guilloche background. The denominational value and the queen’s title serve as encapsulation.
This bullion offering has retained the beauty and prestige of the original. With low mintage figures and a 999 pure silver content, it is highly sought after by investors and collectors alike. Distinguish your portfolio with the addition of this 1 oz 2020 The Royal Arms Silver Coin today!
